Easy DIY Pipe Cleaner Flower Craft: Poppy Tutorial

Here’s a list of materials to make one stunning pipe cleaner poppy:
- 10 petal color pipe cleaners (for 4 petals)
- 1 stamen color pipe cleaner (for the center)
- 1 green pipe cleaner (for the stem)
- 10 pcs floral stamens
- Optional: green pipe cleaner (for leaves)
- Scissors

- Hot glue gun (optional, for stronger hold)
- Floral tape (optional, for finishing touches)

🧵 Step-by-Step Instructions
🔴 Step 1: Shape the Petals
1️⃣Cut 7 pipe cleaners into thirds, making 21 pieces around 10 cm each. You'll use 5 short pieces per petal, so you’ll need 20 total for four petals.
2️⃣Cut 4 longer pieces (20 cm each) — about 2/3 of a full pipe cleaner — to serve as the base for wrapping.
3️⃣Take one 20 cm long piece and five 10 cm short pieces. Fold each short piece in half and through the long piece at the center, then twist it twice to secure.
4️⃣Once all five short pieces are attached, bend the two ends of the long piece downward, press and shape the petal, and twist the ends together tightly to lock everything in place.
5️⃣Bend and adjust the shape of the petal, making the shape fuller
6️⃣Repeat the process 4 times to make four full petals.
Step 2: Make the Center
1️⃣Apply hot glue to one end of a stem, then tightly wrap a pipe cleaner around the tip to form the center bulb.
2️⃣Take foral stamens, fold them in half, and attach them around the center evenly to create a soft, rounded stamen.
3️⃣Ensure all pieces are firmly glued and secured before moving to assembly.
🌿 Step 3: Assemble the Flower
1️⃣Apply glue around the base of the flower center.
2️⃣Attach the four petals, placing them evenly around the stamen. Hold each one in place until the glue dries and they’re stable.
3️⃣Once secure, gently adjust the petal shapes outward to form a soft, natural bloom.
4️⃣Wrap the stem using floral tape for a clean finish.
And that is your finished poppy!
